The EXPO Parque Group presented its Sustainability Report for the first time in 2007. This was an important step towards developing the Group's positioning and emphasising its corporate role as providing a service to society. It is a brand that shows evidence of its growing social concern and responsibility.
The EXPO Parque Group sets out to be a responsible organisation that is committed to the future of society and dedicated to following social and environmental policies that promote quality of life and well-being in general, and of its employees in particular.
As part of the Group’s corporate mission, sustainable development underpins and provides a structural framework for the strategic guidelines governing the Group’s construction projects, its promotion of knowledge about the oceans and how it adds value to the multi-purpose spaces it manages. Through the Group’s projects and activities, the three aspects of sustainability - economic development, social cohesion and respect for the environment – interact and complement each other, coming together in a single dimension. In this way, during the various phases of development in urban and environmental regeneration projects, we follow principles, directives and modes of action that work towards our ultimate goal of ensuring sustainable development.
On the level of environment, we focus on taking a pro-active and preventative approach in order to minimize environmental impact. On an economic level, we look to add value to projects by making them competitive within the applicable social, political, legal and fiscal frameworks. On a social level, we place emphasis on dialogue with the community and with other stakeholders, in an effort to promote the exercise of citizenship and the strengthening of society’s individual and collective cultural identity.
In terms of employee relations, the EXPO Parque Group tries to create a healthy working environment and focuses on professional development by providing more training courses and improving conditions in the workplace.
The EXPO Parque Group also runs various social projects and develops partnerships with organisations that aim to improve society by fighting social exclusion and promoting health, education and culture. The Gil Foundation is an example of the Group’s concern for society. In partnership with the Ministry of Labour and Social Security, it contributes to the well-being, self-confidence and full social integration of children and youth. The Foundation is involved in a range of cultural, educational, artistic, scientific, social and aid activities.
